University degree or substantial related experience in Telecommunications, electronics, engineering or other closely -related field. A combination of relevant academic qualifications or certifications and solid experience in telecommunications area may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. Training could include experience in Advanced Satellite Telecommunication Engineering and Link Budget Analysis, ITU Frequency Coordination and Enterprise Capacity Management, Digital Voice, Satellite Broadcasting, Data Transmission Systems, and Wireless Communications.
At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of telecommunications is required. Ability to provide technical expertise, experience and procedural advice in the design, installation, implementation and maintenance of Multiplex Satellite Telecommunication Networks, Faraday Cage for EMI/RFI protection of Telecommunications Equipment, Satellite Link Budgets and Enterprise Capacity Management which includes complex technical analysis, map generation and revenue tracking for satellite transponders, IP Over Satellite Networks, Satellite Transponder Lease Management and Services Coordination, Electrical Power Distribution Systems, etc. At least five years experience in a peacekeeping or other field based operation is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Spanish desired. Proficiency in another UN official language is an advantage.
Certification in project management (such as PMI, Prince 2) desirable. Knowledge of the ITIL framework required; certification an advantage.
