Special Instructions to Applicants: This is a 16-month term position.
Position Purpose: Within the Student Academic Support Services unit, provides individual and group career counseling/coaching to students at all levels of academic progress. Conducts workshops and organizes career panels and workshops on career exploration and application processes related to internship/entry level job search and graduate/professional school. Areas of emphasis and leadership include one or more of the following: professional & graduate school advising, assessment, outreach, marketing, programming, Tuck Liaison Program and technology, including social media.
Skills & Knowledge: Understanding and appreciation of liberal arts
Knowledge of contemporary, traditional college student issues
Demonstrated cultural competence and proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse student population
Solid foundation in career and student development theory and student learning theory, and their application to professional practice in higher education and student affairs
Knowledge of vocational inventories such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator/Strong Interest Inventory, preferred.
Understanding and knowledge of technology in delivery of career services.
Versatile team player who thrives on student interaction and excels in relationship-building.
Strong project management skills.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Customer service orientation.
Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends.
Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
