About the Department
The security division of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Department of Public Safety concentrates on the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital and on campus. The department provides field officers, Bike and mobile patrol, investigators, and a communication unit for monitoring alarm systems and dispatching officers to service and emergency calls. All officers are required to complete annual training that focuses on health care security

Role Purpose
The Armed Security Officer takes exceptional care of people by continuously patrolling the Health Service Organization (HSO) while being attentive and alert to the safety and welfare of visitors, patients, volunteers, staff and hospital property.

Essential Responsibilities

Patrols and monitors the Health Service Organization (HSO) while being attentive and alert to the safety and welfare of visitors, patients, volunteers, staff, and hospital property
Enforces and responds to requests and questions regarding HSO's public safety


Minimum Qualifications

St. Louis City or Metropolitan Police Department Private Security Armed Licensure or ability to obtain one prior to start date
30 credit hours in a Criminal Justice or related field of study
Proficiency with .38 Caliber revolver
Must be able to legally purchase and carry a Licensed Weapon
Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with healthcare security responsibilities is preferred
