Duties & Responsibilities The Common Alumni Affairs and Development System (CAADS) Practice, operating within the University’s Administrative Technology Services group, collaborates with the CAADS Product team to support 900+ University-wide staff to achieve fundraising, alumni engagement and participation goals. The CAADS team supports a suite of integrated staff and alumni-focused applications and services, including the SunGard HE Advance product, a comprehensive portfolio of reports, and Business Intelligence (BI) / analytics tools.

In addition, the CAADS Practice collaborates with the AOS Product team to support the full suite of Alumni Online applications including the Harris Connect Alumni Portal (, the Alumni Clubs/Sigs portal Alumni Magnet, the Alumni Volunteer portal YardLine, the Reunion Technologies Class Reports portal, and online giving functions and their integration with the CAADS suite of systems.

The Senior Programmer / Analyst will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of software applications and modules pursuant to technical specifications; unit testing of software; execution of source code control procedures; participating in application and system upgrades; and providing support.

The position requires an individual with a solid technical background and experience developing software applications and systems for reliability, maintainability and performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follow formal software development processes for prototyping, design, development, documentation, version control, problem tracking, code review, unit / integration testing and release management

Develop, enhance and maintain software applications and utilities using a combination of ASP.NET, Java, HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, PL/SQL and AJAX

Contribute to the ongoing support of the CAADS applications and databases, including troubleshooting and correcting system problems

Participate in application and system upgrades

Provide tier 3 user support

Participate in on-call (including after-hours) support.
Basic Qualifications BA/BS in a technical discipline (preferably computer science) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

A minimum of 5 years of software development experience using some combination of ASP.NET, Java, HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, AJAX

A minimum of 3 years development experience using a major RDBMS (Oracle highly desired)

Knowledge of UNIX (shell scripting highly desired) and Windows Server operating systems

Experience working with structured design and development techniques, source code control procedures, and software release management processes in the development of software systems

Experience reviewing and analyzing business requirements for modifications to existing and development of new applications

Proven history of rapid, independent learning and application of new technologies

Highly motivated and able to function both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team

Ability to develop collaborative partnerships across the organization to achieve results

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Qualifications Advanced working knowledge of both object-oriented and procedural programming

Experienced in the use of SQL*Plus to create and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, functions and packages

Oracle performance tuning experience, including interpretation of execution plans, use of hints with the cost-based optimizer and indexing recommendations

Experienced in software development for mobile platforms

Experience with SunGard Advance or other fund-raising applications.
