Duties & Responsibilities The Common Alumni Affairs and Development System (CAADS) Practice, operating within the University’s Administrative Technology Services group, collaborates with the CAADS Product team to support 900+ University-wide staff to achieve fundraising, alumni engagement and participation goals. The CAADS team supports a suite of integrated staff and alumni-focused applications and services, including the SunGard HE Advance product, a comprehensive portfolio of reports, and Business Intelligence (BI) / analytics tools.

In addition, the CAADS Practice collaborates with the AOS Product team to support the full suite of Alumni Online applications including the Harris Connect Alumni Portal (, the Alumni Clubs/Sigs portal Alumni Magnet, the Alumni Volunteer portal YardLine, the Reunion Technologies Class Reports portal, and online giving functions and their integration with the CAADS suite of systems.

The CAADS Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of reports; creating dashboards and charts using BI software; performing analysis, troubleshooting and debugging of code; responding to requests for information via ad-hoc data queries; and providing user support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and unit test reports using Oracle’s Hyperion Interactive Reporting tool, and PL/SQL

Build dashboards, charts, scorecards, etc. for presentation of critical information to users using QlikTech’s QlikView BI tool

Make modifications / enhancements to existing reports and QlikView applications

Perform extensive ongoing analysis, troubleshooting and debugging of code

Actively participate in the design, development, tuning and debugging of data structures

Respond to requests for information / perform ad-hoc data queries

Provide support for upgrading of reporting environment during application and systems upgrades

Provide tier 3 user support / resolve all escalated issues

Participate in on-call (including after-hours and weekends) support.
Basic Qualifications BA/BS in a technical discipline (preferably computer science) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

A minimum of 2 years experience developing complex, dynamic reports using a report development tool (Oracle Hyperion Interactive Reporting software highly desired)

A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience using a major RDBMS (Oracle highly desired)

Experience reviewing and analyzing business requirements for modifications to existing and development of new reports / applications

Experience working within a structured development process with source code control procedures and software release management processes

Highly-motivated and able to function both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team

Ability to develop collaborative partnerships across the organization to achieve results

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

Must be conscious of data security and risk management.
Additional Qualifications Experienced in the use of SQL*Plus to create and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, functions and packages

Oracle performance tuning experience, including interpretation of execution plans, use of hints with the cost-based optimizer and indexing recommendations

Working knowledge of object-oriented and procedural programming

Working knowledge of UNIX / Linux

Exposure to business intelligence tools (e.g. Oracle OBIEE, QlikTech / QlikView, Cognos)

Experience with SunGard Advance or other fund-raising applications.
