Duties & Responsibilities
We currently have a position open for a Sr. AD\Exchange Engineer in Cambridge, Ma. This position will be responsible for an upgrade of an Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2010 as well as the long term scalability and support modeling of this environment. This position will also be responsible for the continued high level support and architecture of the Harvard's central administration 2008 Active Directory environment. This is a fulltime, permanent position within Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) department.

The key responsibilities for this include the following:

Design and Architecture for new Exchange 2010 environment. This is a current upgrade project from an Exchange 2003 environment.

Understanding of Virtualization as this environment will be dispersed across several locations and 75% virtualized on VSphere.

Support and maintenance of large-scale production Exchange messaging networks and systems, including the design and development of tools and scripts to assist with such maintenance.

Integrates and/or consolidates servers and services between different components and technologies, including the design and development of the necessary integration tools.

Integrates, and maintains network services such as SMTP, DNS, SMB, Kerberos, Active Directory LDAP directories within the HUIT organization. In depth understanding of backup systems and technologies.

Work closely with technical staff to insure that backup and archiving designs and procedures are implemented properly.

Develops operational procedures and design documentation.

Plans and coordinates system utilization, and performs growth analysis and capacity planning.

Reviews current systems and makes technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency.

Provides on-call support advice and technical support to various users/clients regarding operational/applications issues.

Installs and debugs new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms.

Has an in depth knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange management and monitoring tools.

Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:

Must be a high end engineer with significant skill sets around Exchange, BlackBerry, Active Directory.

Superior communication skills in working with technical and non-technical people and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all levels of an organization are preferred.

Excellent organizational and time/task management skills are preferred.

Technical knowledge and experience in any of the following is highly desirable: Network services, Network-attached storage devices such as Network Appliance Filers. Years of Experience: 7-10 years

Windows Active Directory 2008 R2 - Certified and Experienced, (2+ yrs) experience to include design, deployment and administration

Exchange Server 2010 SP1 - Certified and Experienced, experience to include design, deployment and administration

Moss 2007 (SharePoint) - Experienced, experience to include design, deployment and administration

Networking – Experience preferred for layers 1-4

DNS – experienced and be able to explain DNS in an enterprise environment and how it works

SQL Server 2005/2008R2 – Administration and Clustering experience




Additional Qualifications In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate will have these highly desirable skills:

Extensive Enterprise level Exchange and Active Directory Experience in large scale environments.

Extensive experience with Windows Operating systems, 2003 and 2008.

Other Skill Sets: VMware Knowledge and understanding, BlackBerry, SCOM, Sharepoint, Quest tools, Cisco UCS Blade Technology.

DPM 2007/2010 – Experience a plus

Cisco – CCNA a plus

VMWARE – Experience in 3.5/VSphere a plus
