Purpose

The RSSL pharmaceutical laboratory performs a wide range of analytical contracts for a variety of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports Kraft research and innovation.
This position will be responsible for performing a range of standard testing and specialised analyses in the pharmaceutical laboratory to GMP quality standards.
The analysis will be primarily by LC and dissolution testing. Contractual obligations may expand responsibilities to include the use of GC or classical analytical chemistry as required.

This is a local role based at the RSSLsitein Reading and it constitutes a support function for the Pharmaceutical laboratory. This role is classified as SG7.

Accountabilities

Undertake a range of routine and investigative analyses, primarily by LC and dissolution testing, but may also include GC or classical analytical chemistry methods as required.

Work as part of an efficient analytical team.
Work in an organised manner within tight deadlines to ensure that analysis is completed within expected time scales.

Take responsibility as required for either elements of specific projects and/or specific areas of general laboratory and/or sample administration.
Gain necessary competence in the use of the Laboratory�s LIMS system to process analysis.
Able to assist with the training and development of junior staff.
Help maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
Assist and contribute to the maintenance of RSSL�s quality systems.
Contribute to Kraft�s Innovation and Research projects, as required.
Contribute to RSSL�s Emergency Response Service (ERS).
Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required.
Assist with client queries as appropriate and represent RSSL in a professional manner at all times.
Learn and expand on analytical techniques

Pre-Requisites


Educated to Degree / HNC level in the relevant scientific discipline or relevant laboratory experience with proven practical laboratory skills in LC and dissolution testing.
Evidence of flexible and adaptable working behaviours to meet customer/business requirements.
Computer literate with good, verbal and written communication.
Able to multi-task within a lab environment.
Able to work as part of a team.
Customer orientated.
Able to organise own work to maximise output.
Ability to problem-solve.
Key Performance Indicators


The Job Holder�s main challenge is to perform standard analysis accurately to agreed timescales. The Pharmaceuticals Laboratory is a busy and varied laboratory and the Job Holder must take responsibility for his / her own work and interact efficiently with other members of the team.

Success in this role will be measured through a balance of qualitative and quantitative performance measures. These will form part of your annual objectives.
Flexibility to meet section goals. Departmental KPI�s for adherence to service level agreements.

Contribution to timely clearance of audit observations in area of responsibility.
Feedback from quality survey questionnaires on work, service and timescale parameters
Contribution to the maintenance and progress of quality and health and safety procedures as measured by the number of outstanding quality/EHS actions.
Contribution to the identification and implementation of new technology and/or process efficiencies.

Feedback from staff and colleagues on their development, motivation and training.
