Engagement Leader

Job Purpose:

As the most senior level of Engagement Leader, responsible for successful project delivery and customer realization of business benefits on our most technical and complex engagements. Typically manages between one and three projects, including Pega, partner or client led implementations. The Engagement leader role is one of trusted advisor and thought leader to the customer and actively contributes to the success of the all client engagements through industry knowledge, Pegasystems product knowledge and first class leadership, management, and project management skills.

Key Result Areas:

1. Delivery Management
Delivering what has been sold, to agreed customer timescales, budget and quality and achieving the return on investment. Including: direct project delivery through project progress/status tracking, change control, and the overall governance process. Accessing, securing and leveraging appropriate resources (including the proposal clinic, staffing calls, triage and situation management, support, and partners) for successful delivery, and delivering the sold project margin goal by managing write-offs and staff assignments within the project budget

2. Client Management
Acting as a trusted advisor on the ground to the client on all aspects of Pegasystems engagement within the account. Leading communication with the client and providing thought-leadership so that the best system possible is implemented, including process re-design. Working to enable the client in investing in Pegasystems skills and taking them through the journey of delivering projects in a co-production model to developing a customer Centre of Excellence focused on Pegasystems products and skills. At all times, keeping the customer honest and managing the customers’ expectations.

3. Financial Management
Forecasting, reporting, and managing the financial health of the project. Demonstrating commercial acumen to ensure contract accuracy and dependency identification.

4. Enterprise Program and Stakeholder Management
Ability to manage large programs and stakeholders. Managing and influencing governance and building client relationships. Partnering with Sales, PS leadership, and 3rd party vendors to manage Pega and client success.

5. Thought Leadership
a. Pega Product Knowledge
Ability to communicate Pega’s product applications and advantages.

b. Industry Expertise
Specializing in an industry vertical or a number of verticals, understanding the customer strategy, processes and vocabulary. Expert knowledge of Pega industry and project management frameworks.

c. Methodology Expertise
A comprehensive understanding of Pegasystems delivery methodology and how this can be harmonized with a client of System Integrators own methodology. Working understanding of Agile, Waterfall and Scrum approaches to delivery. Will need to structure implementation approach for new opportunities, tasks may include definition of “Week 1”, sliver or iterative development strategy, staffing strategy (client, alliance partner and Pega participation) and quantification of business benefits (ROI).

d. Consulting and Implementation Expertise
Understanding how to execute in the client’s environment through leveraging extensive delivery and consulting expertise. Being able to lead a team and actively manage a plan and the projects risks and issues. Able to determine and execute implementation in alignment with client’s business and objectives.

6. Mentoring and Staffing of Resources
Coaching all staff toward thought-leadership and project excellence. Working with employees’ managers regarding performance, strengths, and developmental areas of their employees. Staffing appropriate resources, through both skills and style, and creating high performance teams. Interviewing and support selection of new PS employees.

7. Account Radiation and Permeation
Building relationships with all levels within client, helping to facilitate change, partnership and negotiations when required.
Together with the vertical Practice Leader, contributing to the account strategy and radiating within the account to develop incremental license and professional services revenue. Activities will include solution conceptualization, implementation sizing, writing work orders and facilitating work order client signature process. Supporting new project sales proposals as requested including develop of application profiles, sizings, BFWs, and responses to RFPs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education: BA / BS – Technical Degree
MBA or equivalent
PMP Certification optional

Type of Experience and Minimum Number of Years: 10+ years experience in professional services project management roles.
PRPC Certification (within 6 months of joining Pega)
Methodology BB certification (within 6 months of joining Pega)
