Position Description

Title: National Account Manager

This role is critical as it is a leadership role within the sales organization. The company will look to you to gain insights into your account dynamics to make decisions that affect overall go to market strategies. This position is responsible for achieving sales volume, market share, and profit objectives for assigned accounts through acceptable account management practices to include planning, coordinating, and executing company selling strategies.

Key Job Accountabilities:

·Works in a team selling environment, leading and coordinating the efforts of Category Management, Customer Marketing, Business Analyst, Credit, Customer Service, and Distribution.
·Makes account sales calls with Category Management, Advertising, Merchandising, Logistics, and Finance personnel.
·Prepares and delivers account presentations utilizing all Sales and Marketing data as well as syndicated data such as Nielsen, IRI, Consumer research, and Demographics.
·Develops and manages account promotional plans to include best practices sought through the evaluation promotional analysis verifying sales results, and return on investment.
·Manage retail objectives including distribution of new items, selling of promotional displays, space management, retail pricing strategy, inventory and retail communication material.
·Manage all expenses including Advertising claims, retail labor, pricing claims, fixture, trade show expenses and penalty claims in a timely and accurate manner, within assigned budget.
·Assist Credit and Customer service in negotiating and resolving all disputed deductions and post audit claims.
·Builds and submit accurate monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecast including basic, promotional, display volume, returns and markdown expenses.
·Assist the Planogram department in developing account specific planograms including section size, product mix and retail educational signage.
·Coordinates resets and fixture orders for shipment to stores and warehouses
·Attends sales meetings and training seminars as directed by sales management.
·Provides accurate and timely information on competitive activity and retail conditions to Sales management.
·Promotes Customer service initiatives such as Vendor Managed Inventory, Electronic Funds Transfers, and other policies such as terms of sale, returns and distribution.
·Prepares all documents necessary to set up new items in the retailers system to include UPC’s, direct cost and retail pricing, case weight dimension and cube information.
·Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Know-How required:

·This position requires a 4-year degree.
·5 years of sales experience in the consumer products industry
·Must be flexible to travel to account meetings, sales meetings, and other meetings. This requires the flexibility of overnight travel multiple times in a one month period.
·Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Essential skills:

·An understanding of current retailing trends — customer consolidation and impact.
·Requires strong analytical skills and the ability to create and manage an account specific selling story by utilizing a combination of syndicated data and POS. Ability to develop innovative and creative solutions.
·Must be able to interact with all levels of management effectively
·Must be able to achieve the necessary reults
·Ability to Manage through Complex Situations
·Efficient use of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
·Requires effective interpersonal skills, organizational and analytical ability.
·Requires basic Business, Trade Math and Language application skills.

Desirable skills:

·Working knowledge of Financial P & L management.
·People Management Skills.
·Knowledge of space management software.
·Prior field retail experience.
