We’re looking to recruit an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Strategic Planning, Appraisal and Reporting team in the UK, London. The team supports trading leadership by providing pertinent management information on profitability, liquidity / balance sheet management, and cost drivers. In addition the team delivers various improvement projects to enable analysis from front-end trading platform and the books of record (SAP).

The Senior Analyst will report to the Global Head of Strategic Planning, Appraisal and Reporting. This role would be the ideal opportunity for an experienced Finance / Business Analyst and offers a balance between reporting (50%) and improvement projects (50%), with the main focus on cost efficiencies.

The Analyst will work closely with each of Shell’s Trading businesses (Oil, Gas and Power, LNG) and the Trading Finance teams.

Duties will include, but are not restricted to the following:-

Developing an in-depth understanding of cost drivers at the trading book level, interfacing with Trading leads.
Monthly and quarterly cost reporting to the Trading Leadership and Shell Group, including trend and variance analysis.
Take a lead role in developing new projects to meet changing business requirements
Project managing various cost related improvement projects around trading costs, developing new management reports and enhancing reporting capabilities.
Migration of routine reporting processes to a Shell Business Service Centre and manage ongoing relationship with service centre.
Ensuring cost reporting is aligned with Shell Trading's strategic IT roadmap.
Assist the SPAR team, and wider organisation, in the prioritisation and demand management of different cost related improvement projects.
Assisting in the planning and forecasting processes for costs.

You will ideally hold a professional financial qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CFA with strong accounting knowledge and analytical skills. You will need to demonstrate previous experience in management reporting and exposure to projects in a complex systems environment.

The role requires a self-starter with a can-do attitude. We are seeking a candidate with the capacity to cope with steep learning curves, the ability to translate often complex issues into simple solutions, and strong communication skills.
