We’re currently looking for a Senior Resevoir Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen.

Shell has been finding and producing oil and gas for over a century.

Our Upstream International business searches for and recovers oil and natural gas across the world, except the Americas. This spans from exploration activities to the commercial delivery of major upstream projects and to production. Many of these activities are carried out as joint venture partnerships, often with national oil companies. The business also liquefies gas and is active in gas to liquids technology. Today, we have interests in Upstream activities in more than 39 countries and employ around 17,000 people.

The successful candidate will be working as a Senior Reservoir Engineer in a team of 10 Reservoir Engineers, responsible for providing advanced consultancy services, technology evaluation and deployment across the European region.

The role will be ideally suited to an experienced Engineer who enjoys complex technical challenges, and is looking to apply and deepen their technical skills without the usual day-to-day operational distractions.


As a Senior Reservoir Engineer you get exposure of working on a large variety of projects within Europe, providing consultancy support to specific assets in one or more of the following focus areas:

• Complex dynamic reservoir modelling projects (MoReS, Eclipse, VIP)
• 4D Seismic to dynamic modeling, uncertainty management (experimental design) and IOR/EOR projects
• Integrated production system modelling and PVT fluid characterization
• Advanced well test analysis (pressure and rate transient analysis)
• Represent Shell in joint industry projects and disseminate relevant technical learnings
• Act as regional focal point for specific Reservior Engineering skill areas; dynamic modelling, PVT etc

There is also the opportunity to be involved in Shell’s Global projects.

A degree, or equivalent in Engineering, preferably in Mathematics or a Physical Science subject, along with extensive industry experience as a Reservoir Engineer is essential.

It is also essential that you have broad experience in reservoir simulation (eg. black oil/compositional, fractured, streamline, history matching/development optimisation)

The successful candidate will also posess excellent communication skills to engage with our customers.
