Job Description: Cisco seeks a Software Test Engineer responsible for the complete testing and release cycle of Cisco hardware and software, including review of product requirements and development and industry specifications, as well as writing, automating and executing test plans. The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to learn new technologies and related testing techniques quickly to keep up with rapidly evolving industry trends. The role calls for a tenacious and patient engineer with strong multitasking and problem-solving skills, and an ability to promote cooperation among team colleagues.

Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the release and test of Cisco software, that may include any of the following list of responsibilities: Design, develop, execute and document software test cases used to test inter-networking product functionality and interoperability. Write and execute major portions product and system test plans. Debug low complexity problems to identify problem areas. Develop product regression test suites.

Typically requires BSEE/CS plus 2-4+ yrs related experience, or a MSEE/CS combined with 1-2 years of related experience. 3-6+ years related experience. BSEE/ET or equivalent.

Higher proficiency in test tools/ techniques. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing test processes. Familiarity with test strategy - design for test guidelines. Ability to interact cross-functionally. Modifies test tools (hardware/software) as appropriate to meet service requirements. Creates and documents test processes.
In-depth knowledge of one or more of the LAN/WAN and network layer protocols, proficiency with internal interfaces and process interactions.

Full use and application of standard networking theories, concepts, and techniques. Some understanding of test engineering principles. Understand product level architecture. Ability to multitask. Ability to solve problems of moderate scope. Ability to develop test scripts. Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
